A follow-up on our recent blog posting about condo fraud. We received feedback on behalf of some concerned managers that our blog posting unfairly questioned the honesty of property managers.
There certainly was no intent to single out managers as being prone to commit fraud. The blog posting referred particularly to managers since the Toronto Star article referenced in the blog, specifically dealt with an alleged fraud by a management company.
Most condo managers and management companies are trusted professionals that provide a valuable service to condo corporations. Fortunately the fraudsters are few and far between, but unfortunately when there is fraud many others are painted with the same brush in the public eye.
